Class Descriptions
Advanced Competitive Class: This class is designed for competitive students in Full Bronze and above. We will be teaching you ways to pop on the dance floor and stand out to the judges. We'll also be covering all the principals of being a great competitive dancer including, foot work, arm styling, hip motion, hitting lines, and much more.
Arms and Stretching- is a group class that will focus on the art of arm styling in both rhythm and smooth dancing. You'll also spend a good deal of time stretching your muscles in order to gain flexibility, agility, and control.
Ballroom Elements: This classes focuses on the Fundamental elements of Smooth and Rhythm dances.
Ballroom Workout: Our most popular class! Ballroom Workout is a class that incorporates ballroom elements and a high impact cardio workout. The repetitive nature of this class is helpful for beginners looking to perfect their basic steps, and great for advanced students trying to perfect their fundamental techniques.
Characteristics: This class focuses on how to take an element that exists in multiple dances, and make it unique to each dance. This class is appropriate for beginner students who are just familiarizing themselves with the dances all the way up to advanced students looking to expand their range their repertoire.
Couples Class: This class is appropriate for students of all levels. You do not need to bring a partner to this class, however we would recommend arranging for a partner if you plan on coming. The teacher may work on any of the dances we offer during this class. Subject manner may range from topics like lead and follow to introducing a new dance such as Argentine tango.
Feet First: Is a class that will focus on footwork for rhythm and smooth dances. This class will also explore how your footwork effects the motion in the rest of your body. Feet First is appropriate for students in the Bronze Program and above.
Group Formation Class: This class is intermediate and advanced students that are interested in learning choreography for a group dance that will be performed at a regional competition.
Hip Hop: Learn cool moves and fun routines to popular music. Please wear sneakers to this class.
International Latin: This class teaches traditional steps and movements from the International Latin curriculum. As our school primarily focuses on the American Rhythm dances, this class gives students an opportunity to learn dances such as Jive, International Cha Cha, Samba, Paso Doble, and International Rumba. This class is recommended for dancers in or beyond the Bronze Program.
International Standard: is a class that will focus on the elements and techniques of the International Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Slow Foxtrot, and Quickstep. This class is recommended for students in the Bronze Program and above.
Newcomers Party Prep: is a class designed to help students who have taken less than 30 Private lessons and are interested in being more comfortable dancing in social situations. These classes will be held before every Practice Party.
Social Latin: This class is appropriate for students of all levels who are interested in learning the highly social form of "Latin Club" dancing. The teacher will cover dances like salsa, bachata, cumbia, social merengue, and more. You do not need a partner for this class, however, partner dancing may be involved.
Style and Rhythm: This class explores the stylistic possibilities of expression within the various rhythm dances. This class is appropriate for intermediate students and advanced students.
Style and Technique (or Technique): This class is recommended for students who have taken at least 10 private lessons. You do not need a partner for this class. The teacher will review different styling options for all the dances we teach. They will also study things like cuban motion, foot work, rise and fall, spins, grace in movement and many more techniques that will improve the quality of your dancing.
